Community & Platform Guidelines

Draft — last updated 25 August 2026

This is a draft placeholder. It sets out our current expectations in plain language, but hasn't yet been reviewed by a qualified South African legal professional — that review should happen before Teeny launches publicly at scale.

Teeny only works if people can trust what they find here — a real opportunity, an honest listing, a respectful conversation. These guidelines set out what we expect from everyone using the platform, alongside our Terms of Use.

What we expect

If you're looking for an opportunity
  • Keep your profile and application answers honest
  • Communicate respectfully with organisations
  • Only apply to opportunities you're genuinely interested in and eligible for
  • Report anything that feels wrong instead of ignoring it
If you're posting an opportunity
  • Describe the role, duties, and requirements accurately
  • Be clear about paid/unpaid status, hours, and any commitment expected
  • Respond to applicants respectfully, even when the answer is no
  • Never ask an applicant for money, banking details, or a "registration fee"

Not allowed on Teeny

These apply to everyone, job seekers and organisations alike
  • Scams, or listings that don't reflect a real opportunity
  • Asking anyone on Teeny for money, fees, or payment of any kind
  • Harassment, threats, or inappropriate behaviour towards another user
  • Discrimination based on race, gender, religion, disability, or similar
  • Misleading job titles, descriptions, or requirements
  • Sharing someone else's personal information without their consent
  • Impersonating another person or organisation
  • Anything illegal under South African law

What happens if these are broken

Depending on what's involved, we may reject or remove a listing, ask an organisation to make changes before a listing is approved again, or suspend an organisation's account entirely — including making its previously-approved listings no longer publicly visible. See our Trust & Safety page for how listing review and organisation verification actually work.

Raising a concern

If something doesn't sit right — a listing, a message, anything — you can report it directly from the listing page, or contact us using the details on our Privacy Policy page. Every report is read by our team.
